"How to dance in times of crisis?"
3. International Exchange for young dancers and choreographers in Berlin and Athens (2018)

The Weinmeisterhaus e.V. and its initiative LUNA PARK are looking immediately for young choreographers and dancers up to age 27 who live either in Berlin or in Athens and are completing or have completed a professional dance degree, for participation in an exchange between Berlin and Athens. The exchange is happening in 2018 for the third time, again within the project “How do we dance in times of crisis?” It focuses on a German-Greek exchange program in cooperation with the international dance festival “Tanz im August” and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Family and Youth.
Participation in this exchange is free (including housing, arrival and departure and activities that have to do with the project). The first meeting will take place in Berlin from the 9th until the 21st of August, 2018, parallel to “Tanz im August.” A component of the activities are dance rehearsals together with the Atheners and Berliners, various workshops in choreography and improvisation at the Gesundbrunnen Primary School in Wedding, along with daily visits to the performances and events of the festival “Tanz im August” (free of charge). The participants from Athens who come to Berlin will be housed in the Freizeithaus at Mauerpark in Prenzlauerberg. There together with the Berliners they will discuss, cook, and eat, to facilitate a direct and intense opportunity to get to know each other and exchange.
The visit of the local Berlin participants to Athens is planned from the 19th to 31st of October 2018. The collective dance rehearsals with the two groups will resume, accompanied by daily dance training. The Berlin participants will be housed in the private homes of the Atheners, which should support and intensify the exchange. The participants will create short scenes and choreographies on the basis of the shared rehearsal in Berlin and Athens, which will be performed at the end for an open public in the theater of the Athens School of Fine Arts. A further presentation of existing works from this exchange program (2016-2018) will be shown on the 17th and 18th of December on the stage at the Centre Francais de Berlin.

The exchange this year in Berlin and Athens is being organized by Weinmeisterhaus e.V. and its intiative LUNA PARK, in partnership with the Gesundbrunnen Primary School, the festival "Tanz im August," the Freizeithaus at Mauerpark, the Centre Francais de Berlin and the Athens School of Fine Arts.
The program is being led by the dance scholar Dr. Maria Tsouvala and from the Berlin-based Greek choreographer Kosmas Kosmopoulos.
